"Gone Too FARve"

The Story: The NFL is aggressively investigating allegations that Favre sent inappropriate messages and photos to a former Jets employee, a source familiar with the league's review told Mortensen.

The investigation is on a fast track and commenced Thursday, the same day that Deadspin.com posted voice messages and salacious photos that Favre allegedly sent to Jenn Sterger when both were employed by the New York Jets in 2008.

The Analysis: Something about Brett Farve and sex scandal in the same sentence just don't seem right.  Are you surprise?  If you are innocent, why cry and give a speech to your teammates saying I need you to carry me versus the Jets. On the flip side, maybe he didn't do it.  In addition, why didn't the report come out when it happen?  Why all of a sudden when he returns to New York...just maybe somebody didn't get the type of Tiger Woods money they thought they would.  Just throwing it out there...

More commentary from writer Jason Whitlock of FoxSports.com regarding Sexism and Sports
What other explanation is there for the attack on Jenn Sterger? She’s done nothing wrong. Nothing. Even if she participated in the selling of the e-mails, voice mails and pictures to Deadspin -- which Deadspin claims she did not -- she has acted appropriately.

Sterger is not like the Tiger Woods groupies who willingly slept with the married golfer and then squealed so they could cash in.

Sterger, if you believe the allegations, was a victim of harassment. An older, married man made repeated, unwanted and offensive advances toward her. A full-time Jets employee, in an attempt to make the team’s star quarterback happy, gave Favre her contact information.

This is sexual harassment. She’s in her mid 20s, trying to get a foot in the door with the Jets. One of the most important players in the NFL allegedly used all of his leverage in an attempt to bed her.

Why are people upset that she would turn Favre’s harassment into a winning hand for herself? Why is there a pointless debate about whether she was a “reporter” or “game-day host” for the Jets?

She’s a human being. If she sold popcorn for the Jets, Favre’s conduct would still be inappropriate.

If we find out she slept with Favre or led him on, I’ll reverse my position and lump her with the sleazy opportunists who exploited the Tiger situation.

As of right now, I hope she capitalizes in every way possible. I hope she’s on Oprah’s couch Tuesday and on Leno and Letterman later in the week.

What a Waste Money - College Football Games of the Week

Football players have iPads in lockers
Don't get me wrong, I think it's admirable that he gave 2 million to Nebraska.  Suh, now with the Detroit Lions, was one of those exceptional student athletes who excelled in the classroom and on the field.  However, you might as well buy them iphones, include a stipend for them to buy apps, and throw in an i-touch.  Why not pay their phone bills as well.  So, I already know what you are going to say.  It's his money and he can do whatever he wants.  I hope the entire 2 million didn't go to just that.  And now we wonder why some student athletes are so spoiled and feel as though everybody owe them something.  According to the NCAA, only 1 percent of college athletes will go on to play professionally.  I guess Ndamukong Suh just so happen to be in the number...

Last Week 3-2
Overall 11-6

Games of the Week

Clemson at North Carolina
Every time I think of UNC's win streak, I think of OJ the Juiceman..."I'm Boomin, I'm Bunkin!"  The defense has definitely found their swagger and if the offense and match their intensity every game, this can be a good football team (see ECU game).  Clemson played a good game last week but lost a game they could have won in my opinion.  We get one more defensive star back...and one more victory...Go Heels 28-21

No. 17 Michigan State at No. 18 Michigan
Welcome to Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood. This guy is unbelievable and unless he gets hurts, he will be the Heisman trophy winner, regardless if Michigan win games another game.  I'm thinking this may be an evenly matched game and a win by either team makes them the front runner to catch Ohio State.  It's a toss up, home team prevails...UM 38-31

No. 12 LSU at No. 14 Florida
The fiasco that happen last weekend vs. UTK will not happen again.  LSU's offense has been suspect all year.  I anticipate Florida jumping ahead early and forcing LSU to throw the ball and complete a pass.  The fan in me says go Tigers, the wanna be analysis in me says the Gators have the edge...UF 27-10

No. 1 Alabama at No. 19 South Carolina
I wouldn't have this game up if I didn't think USC had a chance to win.  I think they do.  For everyone who thinks the Tide will run through the SEC, impossible.  The truth is they should have lost against Arkansas.  If Steve Spurrier win this game, he should retire just to say he went out on top...Gamecocks 21-20

HBCU Game of the Week
Tuskegee at Morehouse
Morehouse comes in ranked #16 in the American Football Coaches Association poll.  Tuskegee is not far behind them having lost just one game.  I would love to be a fly hanging around the tailgate of this match up.  It's the 75th Annual Tuskegee-Morehouse Football Classic.  I can only imagine...Morehouse 31-27

"Size Does Matter..."

Rhode Island School Pulls Out of a Game Citing the other school's Size - Moss goes back to Vikings

The Story:  That's exactly what happened Monday, when St. George's (R.I.) School canceled a game on Friday against fellow Independent School League member Lawrence Academy (Mass.), citing a concern over the disparity in the size of the two schools' players

Meanwhile, the risk of losing via forfeit -- the game may or may not be recorded as a forfeit, depending on the decision of a committee of three ISL headmasters -- is not something that concerns St. George's athletic director and football coach John MacKay. He said, "People don't understand what schools like St. George's are all about. Our students are into much more than athletics. Athletic success is so secondary in a place like this.''

Three Lawrence Academy offensive lineman weigh in at 300, 335 and 350 pounds, where St. George's players come nowhere near those marks. Still, the withdrawal is a stark statement of competitive inequity in the entire league.

The Analysis:  Call it what you want, life isn't fair.  Maybe they should do a soft scrimmage so no one gets hurts (is that even possible).  Part of me says I can't blame the school, especially, after watching college and professional football over the last few weeks.  These athletes hit and they hit hard.  In addition, concussions are on the rise, just ask Jay Cutler (shout out to KB).  The other part of me will lean on the words of my good friend OSII and say..."it's a man's world."  Get in the trenches and see what you made of.

On another note, Randy Moss heading back to the Vikings...Farve sucks this year and Randy takes every three plays off.  I agree with the cornerback that called him lazy last year.  It's about to get interesting for Fantasy Football owners.  Brandon Tate just might be a decent pick up in fantasy leagues!

"What were you Thinking" - College Football Games of the Week

Tweetface (twitter and facebook) is getting people caught up by the day and college athletes are no exception to the rule.  In the category of "what were you thinking" and "FAIL" of the week -- Oklahoma suspended receiver Jaz Reynolds indefinitely after he posted what coach Bob Stoops called "insensitive remarks" on his Twitter page about a gunman who committed suicide on the University of Texas campus.

An account with the handle Jaz Reynolds posted the message, "Hey everyone in Austin, tx.......kill yourself" on Tuesday, the day of the suicide, followed by a disregard request 5 minutes later. The account was deactivated Wednesday.  If you guys did not hear, a gunman wearing a ski mask and brandishing a rifle entered a library at the Univ. of Texas at Austin brought an AK-47 to campus Tuesday and fired a few shots before killing his self.

Just because you are thinking it, doesn't necessarily mean you have to tweetface it...will will they learn?

Last Week 4-1(Arkansas blew it)

Overall 8-4

Games of the Week

East Carolina at North Carolina
UNC's defense didn't skip a beat against Rutgers thanks to Quan Sturdivant and "Que" Coples (what up neo), however the offense finally came back to earth and looked as if they were missing 7 starters.  Another outstanding performance by the defense against ECU and the Heels offense will have no choice but to step up.  Not sure which ECU team will show up as they have been inconsistent.  Go heels!  UNC 38-35

No. 16 Miami (FL) at Clemson
Upset special #1, well not really because Clemson is not a bad football team and they are playing at home.  Miami is prone to struggle and their quarterback (Harris) is known to throw picks.  The hurricane defense is tough but the game is in death valley so I expect the Tigers to be ready to play.  Their quarterback situation is a little sketchy but the home team has the edge in this one...Clemson 28-17

No. 9 Stanford at No. 4 Oregon
Upset special #2 this week.  Stanford is for real and I'm a witness after they had a player score back to back touchdowns last week (1 on defense, 1 on offense).  Notre Dame did not have a answer for them last week.  Oregon is good, but a little overrated in my opinion.  Whoever wins this game has control of the conference.  That would be the Cardinals...Cards 45-40

No. 7 Florida at No. 1 Alabama
Alabama should be ranked #2 this week after Arkansas blew it.  But since they are number one and have the best two running backs in the country, that gives them the edge against a young Florida team playing on the road.  Ingram is nice, but Richardson is the truth and he doesn't even start.  The Tide showed they can win on the road against a good team last week, therefore they should have no problem with Florida...Tide 30-23

HBCU Game of the Week
Prairie View A&M @ Mississippi Valley State
This could be a warm up game for Prairie View before they go prime-time with an ESPNU game next Thursday against Arkansas Pine Bluff (shout out to Janeiro).  Miss Valley State ain't had winning team since Jerry Rice played for them, so I'm kidding but they are off to a bad start this year.  I'm rolling with the PV...probably because they have a better record and I like their school colors...PV 21-17

"Every Little Step I Take"

OMG....I can't stop laughing!

This song is a classic though.  Shout out to all my Bobby Brown fans!  And Whitney Houston...what?  I'm just saying!

"Introducing Lil Peanut, It was OVER early for one Drake Fan, and Kids still Eat Boogers"

Check out Lil Peanut looking like Doughboy (Ice Cube) from Boyz-N-Hood.  I only thought people in Louisiana knew about freeze cups.  Shout out to E. 22nd and E. 23rd street!

Something about this just ain't right...Maybe Lil Wayne and nem starting to rub off on Drizzy...although your body guard punching someone doesn't give you street cred just yet, you got to get at least 17 tattoos!

Ummm, taste like Chicken!  Girl caught on TV eating booger!

"All in the Family"

Texas lawmaker gives scholarship to family members
The Story: (CNN) – A veteran House representative from Texas said she made a mistake when she awarded charitable scholarships to her family members instead of students in her district.

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, has been under fire recently, accused of breaking rules in giving the scholarships to relatives. "I've acknowledged that I was negligent. I've acknowledged that I made a mistake," Johnson said during an interview on CNN's "AC 360".

Johnson is accused of awarding scholarship money to her grandsons, David and Kirk Johnson, as well as the children of her Dallas district director, Rod Givens, last year. Each of the relatives were awarded two scholarships in the past year.

The Dallas Morning News newspaper reported that Johnson has awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships to two grandsons, two great-nephews and Givens' children in the past five years.

Johnson said her grandchildren were not instructed to lie on scholarship forms and indicate on the forms that they were not related to Johnson.

The Analysis:  "Johnson said she was not aware of all the rules and said she was too busy with other activities to scrutinize the applications."  Impossible being you at one time was a governing lawmaker.  That's why you have personal and executive assistants.  She also says that she has repaid all of the money.  If her pockets are so deep, why didn't she just give that money to those students out her pocket from the beginning.

When it comes to scholarship monies, it should always be about the academic achievement and success of the student, especially at a time where college tuition is at a steady increase and because of the myth in many underrepresented communities that because you can't afford to pay for college, you can't attend.

Although what she did was unfair and unjustified, I wouldn't doubt that private scholarship organizations have been practicing this for years.  It's all about your network.  And sometimes that can work against you.  Just ask Rep. Johnson.

Fantasy Football

This past weekend, the NFL seemed like fantasy football.  I would have never guessed Vick would be the man this early in the season and that the Saints kicker would be chip shots and loosing games.  And my Fantasy Football team is not doing so well...UGH!

Vickadelphia...
Where is Peta now...?  How many lives does this guy has?  Two years in jail, lost everything financially, and almost pulled a TI and got himself in trouble again over the summer at his own birthday party.  Now he's the man in the city of brotherly love.  I'm happy that Vick is doing his thing, he's looking like a pro bowler!  I'm mad (like everyone else in my fantasy football league) that I was slow in picking him up (shout out to Roc).  Talking about being "Blessed in the City"

You got to be KICKING Me!

I don't who's worst...Janikowski from the Raiders or Hartley from the Saints...cut em both in my opinion.  Unfortunately for the Raiders (he missed 3 kicks), that was their best chance of getting on a winning a streak, they might go winless for another 4 games and for the Saints, they've given the Falcons a head start in the NFC south, they just might not give it back.

Other NFL Observations...
*  Redskins look really bad.
*  Chiefs are undefeated (wth)
*  I didn't realize half the people on facebook are cowboy fans.
*  OSII is the only Oakland Raiders fan.
*  TWC needs to strike a deal with NFL network, not sure if I can take the Carolina Panthers another weekend.
*  There is no clear cut Super Bowl favorite...YET?  If so, please let me know!

The Little Giants - College Football Games of the Week

You would think that Notre Dame's coach Brian Kelly would have had a heart attack after that play, but instead he just stood there, just as shock as I was watching the end of this game.  However it was Michigan State's head coach Mark Dantonio who remained cool, calm, and collective as he talked to the reporter (probably in shocked) about how he had a feeling that the play he named "Little Giants" would work...and it did.  Then he promptly had a mild heart attack hours later.  He's expected to make a full recovery!  Although it would not have been a bad way to go out!

Last Week 4-1(UNC let me down vs. Ga Tech)

Overall 4-3

Games of the Week

North Carolina at Rutgers
Two years ago we went to Rutgers and put up a 40 spot, winning by 32 points.  We also had Hakeem Nicks and Brandon Tate.  Gone are the days where I defense can win games (see BC game last year on the road), I'm hoping this is the game where the offense can play for four quarters, we need a win and we can get it against a Rutgers team who struggled to beat Florida International and Norfolk St...UNC 21-10

No. 1 Alabama at No. 10 Arkansas
This will probably be the best game all weekend.  Let's see Ingram put up a 100 yards in the first quarter against Arkansas.  If you haven't heard of Ryan Mallet, you will by the weekend.  He's the best quarterback in the SEC and has been trying to get on the big stage again after being the #1 HS quarterback a few years ago.  Arkansas is hot right now so I'm jumping on the bandwagon...Razorbacks 30-24

No. 22 West Virginia at No. 15 LSU
I never thought I'd be in a position to root against my favorite college football team.  LSU has surprised me with an ok team, winning two SEC games so far with an OK offense.  WVU should challenge them but they will be Baton Rouge where it's tough to get a win.  I wonder if that Peterson kid has returned any more punts for TD's or did he get all of them out of his system vs. UNC.  LSU 24-20

No. 24 Oregon State at No. 3 Boise State
What will Boise State have to do to get into the BCS National Championship game? Go undefeated again which they might just do.  Their left handed quarterback does not look that athletic to me but he's a very accurate thrower and BSU puts up points.  What's in that blue grass in Idaho?  Whatever it is, it's working. BSU in blowout....47-10

Black College Football Game of the Week
North Carolina A&T vs. North Carolina Central Univ.
It's the Aggie-Eagle Classic and I expect the RDU area to be on and poppin.  Between each team, they have 1 win and that belongs to NCCU so needless to say, most people are not here for the game although they will be at the game.  If you never been to an Aggie-Eagle classic, you are missing out.  If the atmosphere is anything close to homecoming, lawd have mercy...it's a toss up!  NCCU in a low scoring game...12-3

"LONG Road Ahead"

Bishop Long Accused of Sexual Coercion

The Story:  (CNN) -- Two Georgia men have filed a lawsuit claiming that prominent Atlanta, Georgia, pastor Eddie Long coerced them into sex.  The suits, filed Tuesday in DeKalb County, Georgia, allege that Long used his position as a spiritual authority and bishop to coerce young male members and employees of his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church into sex.

"Defendant Long has a pattern and practice of singling out a select group of young male church members and using his authority as Bishop over them to ultimately bring them to a point of engaging in a sexual relationship," the suits allege.

Long is considered one of the nation's top black preachers. His church has more 25,000 members
The story is very long and still developing.  To read more, including court documents, click here.

The Analysis:  Blog disclaimer:  Innocent until proven guilty...Mike Jackson, R. Kelly, just to name a few beat such cases although all are different in their own way.  However, very disturbing to say the least and really unfortunate. Classic case of the young men upping the price of the payoff and Mr. Long deciding not to pay (i don't know, just sounds like it).  Nevertheless, with the paid trips and lavish hotels etc, this one will be a tough one to win in favor of the bishop.  I would imagine that court documents will be sealed soon (prevents both parties from discussing it) and an agreement will be reached, however it does put a stain on not only Bishop Long, but his church as well.  I will reserve all other thoughts/comments for a more appropriate setting.
