"Trapped in the Closet"

Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has been fired over allegations from prominent ex football star and ESPN analyst Craig James.  Supposedly, Leach subjected his son to humiliating isolation on two occasions because of his injury. Disputes then ensued over the details and the motivation behind said allegations -- ex-players rushed to the coach's defense; James and his father were apparently bitter over his lack of playing time; the purported "electrical closet" turned out to be the size of a garage; a doctor swore Leach inflicted no harm --

As for the helicoptor dad Craig James, it's hard to imagine his own career will remain unscathed. While it's hard to criticize a father for looking out for his son, he's put himself in a very uncomfortable situation. An ESPN analyst -- a purportedly objective college football commentator -- just got a prominent college football coach fired. Will viewers take him seriously now when he critiques a coach's judgment? Will coaches of the games he's covering even speak with him? ESPN won't fire James for being a concerned parent, but it could certainly relegate him to Tuesday night MAC games for the foreseeable future.

I guess it's true.  Some people do have that much power.  Just think though!  All Leach had to do was keep his job until Dec. 31st and he would have received a  $800,000 bonus.  This story has more twist, turns, and allegations than R. Kelly trapped in the closet series.  Why nobody told me R. Kelly made 22 parts to Trapped in the Closet.  ME----->SMH!

  1. I just feel that all sports require a certain degree of mental and physical toughness. And the two together have profound effect on each other. Football is a sport that pushes both to their brink. The culture of most sports is to play hurt, bleeding, fractured, exhausted with all manner of tape and braces holding you together. ESPN highlights for the decade was littered moments that glorified athletes with enough resolve to win against all odds (mental or physical). Byron Leftwich getting carried down the field on broken leg, Curt Shilling’s bloody sock, Paul Pierce running back out on the court after his fake knee injury, Brett Favre playing the day after his father died, shit Cuttino Mobley played 10 years of pro ball with Sickle Cell trait/risk of sudden death. And we as a culture hold those things in the highest and why not that stuff is pretty amazing. And none of this gives a coach the right to call a racial slur or degrade you on to deep a level like (Mangino) or slap in front of people like Bob Knight. But what coach on any level doesn’t attempt to inspire toughness from their players. No one has ever had a sibling or an elder tell them to “get up, shake it off you’ll be aight”. And if you really that hurt may you do need to go sit over the back with the rest of the broken china so you don’t distract everybody else from the task at hand. I think it’s amazing some du du from the end of the bench can get the winningest coach in Texas Tech fired for some TOTAL BS. How does a grown man get locked in a fuckin closet any way? Did he whoop his ass and put him in there? Craig James ought to be ashamed that his son attends an institution of higher learning and someone can still lock him in the dark against his will (I’m not a lawyer but that a charge in Texas). And I think they did remove ESPN James from his bowl game broadcast. I’m willing to bet Mike Leach will still get paid his bonus and he’ll have another job before next season. I know I wrote to much but this situation is totally ridiculous.
